The Balbriggan Awareness of Drugs Group is a voluntary, community based group, whose primary objective is education.
To date, our Parent to Parent presentation has proved to be our most popular and most successful venture with educating parents in the community. We have been presenting this in the Fingal area since 1998.
What is Parent to Parent?
Parent to Parent is a presentation that empowers parents to deal directly with their own children on the critical issues of adolescence, alcohol, drugs and other personal values.
The programme is divided into two parts covering the following areas.

About Drugs and Alcohol

This 2 hour presentation covers the 6 questions above. From our experience, not everybody can commit to the 4-week presentation and this one-off session is beneficial to individuals and families.
It may, also, be useful in helping friends who may be experiencing difficulties. In this session each individual will receive a booklet and a CD, for their own personal use (this booklet and CD is different to the ones received in the 4-week session).

It is presented over 4 weeks and each weekly presentation takes 2 hours.
It is a DVD based presentation and over the 4 weeks you will see 6 DVD’s. The average running time of any DVD is 30 minutes. This takes up 3 hours of the course and the remainder (5 hours) is taken up with group discussion.
Each individual who participates will receive a booklet and a CD for their own personal use. This booklet will not be collected or examined, but simply used to fill in ideas from the presentation. The CD can help participants involve their partner in the comfort of their own home and can also be used as a reference at a later date.
At the completion of the course each individual will receive a certificate.
Light refreshments will be served at each session.
The cost for the 4-week presentation is €20 per person.

The Balbriggan Awareness of Drugs Group has trained facilitators who can make this presentation to you. The advantage of organising the presentation in your own area is that you choose the day and the time (morning or evening).
Let me emphasise that an individual can participate in both the one-off session and the 4-week presentation, as the presentations are not the same (although one topic is covered in both).
